students work

What wonderful work my students have been doing over the Xmas holidays and recently.

I am so very proud of them all, loving seeing the quilts come to life all stunningly different and giving them lots of joy. And to me thats what quilting is all about making yourself happy, spending time alone OR with a friend or two stitching something beautiful to admire for years to come.
Kim is up to her borders. Kim had Kaffe Fassett fabric in the cupboard for a few years doing nothing and now  the most STUNNING  black background and happy bright colourful quilt has now developed. Kim fussy cut the fabric to make alot of her flowers ( smart and so pretty) and the vase base was from fabric.... Beautiful Kim.

Alysia is making a charcoal background with all neutral fabrics.... STUNNING..So beautifully blanket stitched with one neutral thread,,, smart too ( such a time saver instead of changing thread colours )

And me I have been quilting some of my Nancy Crow quilts from January.I'm really happy with this texture I have achieved. Ive used wool/ cotton blend wadding , ditched the piecing and then with a length of 4.5 on my710 Bernina , quilted lines all vertical down the quilt in black and red. Then got the triple stitch and quilted just as before with a black or red 5o weight cotton thread ( nothing fancy)  and got great heavy texture. It sort of looks hand quilted ( if you squint) well as close to hand quilted as I'm ever going to get ( god didn't give me those skills)
Is is another little project for my once a month classes as well coming along. 16 block free motion applique , curved piecing and 4 borders that are quite cute and free coming along so when that's finished Ill post the final result.

My once a month classes I am LOVING so nice to have regular students and see their progress, very rewarding for little old me .......

More later
Now off to AQC today....
See you ....
