My latest enjoyment .

Had a wonderful week at home, working a little , sewing a lot. Im loving my new sewing room, its bright, light and full of inspiration around me. Im so grateful,,,,
This week I completed one quilt and made another top. It certainly feels tremendous sewing again. Its like being with a special long time friend, always there for each other. I know you know what I mean.
This top I posted in January managed to retrieve it from the back of a cupboard while packing for our    move. Its now finished , quilted, binding on , washed and on the lounge.

Original top. Unpicked and new layout of plain fabrics to hi-light the quilting. Just given the quilt afresh younger   feel I think. With all fabrics from my stash nothing bought. Except the small brown spot border.

Finished quilt. Quite different from the original Im really happy with it

The plain blocks I have designed the quilting patterns from a template.
Im teaching this new technique at Maroo  Quilters of the Hawkesbury retreat next month. There are a few places left if interested. Contact me by email and Ill get you in touch with the committee.  There are other fantastic tutors like Gina Burgess, Fay Packenham, Lessa Seegal, Michelle Hill and many more . Its a terrfic weekend .It all started with a heart template below rotated 4 times. Then I added free form shapes inside. It was a lot of fun I really enjoyed this process.

Then I pieced a new free form top which I love. This technique is free form cutting and piecing. The blocks   vary in size  and are all based on  the medallion theme. I didnt realize but I have taken colour inspiration from the Georges River The view I now have . Its so serene , peaceful and quiet. The top was a pleasure to develope and stitch. This is a new direction for me one that I am hoping to develope and teach in 2015. My idea is making a few small free form quilt tops and machine quilting them as well in a 2 or 3 day format.Anyway Ill keep producing and see what develops. Ill post the finished quilt later.

Im off to Brisbane for a week to teach at Sew this and that at Morayfield and Patches Indoorropilly.
I will post from Qld.
Thanks for listening
Happy Quilting
XDEB

Hi Deb, It's so exciting to see your inspirational redoing of your old quilt top - I love the new design! I also love the free form quilt top you've made - I can see you're very very happy in your new home and it shows. Well done and you've inspired me (although I'm a little time-poor at present with delightful new grand children in my life. Please bring your free form quilt class to Sewing Connection in Pakenham next year - I'd sign up now!!! Many good wishes, Lee
